Rolls-Royce Phantom Celebrates 100 Years as the Ultimate Symbol of Power and Prestige

SME News UK. The Rolls-Royce Phantom, long regarded as the pinnacle of luxury motoring, celebrates a historic milestone in 2025: 100 years of influence, innovation, and iconic status. Since its debut in 1925, Phantom has transcended its role as a mere motor car to become a cultural symbol, a moving canvas of bespoke craftsmanship, and a quiet force at some of history’s most pivotal moments.

From royal households and world leaders to cultural icons like John Lennon, the Phantom has consistently served those who shape the world. Each of its eight generations reflects the evolution of luxury, technology, and global taste — yet all remain united by a commitment to timeless elegance and engineering excellence.

Chris Brownridge, Chief Executive Officer of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, described Phantom as “a cultural phenomenon that both reflects and influences the world around it. It has offered generations of owners a platform for personal expression through unmatched bespoke craftsmanship.”

To mark this centenary, Rolls-Royce has commissioned a new series of original artworks inspired by Phantom’s legacy, echoing the artistic tradition started in 1910 by Charles Sykes, the creator of the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy.

Among the many stories that illustrate Phantom’s reach: Field Marshal Montgomery’s wartime Phantom III, the ceremonial Phantoms of the British Royal Family, and John Lennon’s famously repainted Phantom V — a psychedelic expression of 1960s counterculture that remains one of the most recognizable cars in the world today.

Whether commanding a royal procession, hosting world-changing negotiations, or cruising through city streets as a statement of creativity and individuality, Phantom remains Rolls-Royce’s most enduring masterpiece — a symbol of influence, status, and refined power.

As it enters its second century, the Phantom continues to define what it means to lead — and to arrive.
