In a historic achievement, Egypt has secured the hosting rights for the 2027 Darts World Cup, following a decisive vote at the 29th General Assembly of the World Darts Federation (WDF), held in Seoul, South Korea, on the sidelines of the 2025 World Cup.

Delegates from 80 member countries took part in the voting process, where Egypt won by a landslide against strong bids from the United States and Hungary. The Egyptian proposal showcased outstanding technical and logistical capabilities, while highlighting Sharm El-Sheikh as one of the world’s premier sports and tourism destinations.

Sharm El-Sheikh: A Global Sports and Tourism Hub

Dr. Yehia Abdel Kader, President of the Egyptian, Arab, and African Darts Federations, emphasized that Egypt’s bid stood out thanks to the country’s security, stability, and unique tourism offerings. He noted that Sharm El-Sheikh enjoys year-round mild weather, natural beauty, and complete safety, making it an ideal host city.

He also announced that the tournament will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Darts World Cup, adding historical significance to the 2027 edition. Special travel programs will be arranged for participants and their families, including exclusive visits to the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

Strong Political Support

Abdel Kader expressed deep gratitude to Egypt’s leadership, particularly President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, acknowledging the crucial role of political and security stability in winning this global sporting event.

Preparations Underway

The Egyptian Darts Federation will begin immediate preparations in coordination with the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Hosting contracts will be signed, and full details of the tournament will be announced at an upcoming international press conference.

The International Conference Center in Sharm El-Sheikh will serve as the venue, offering Egypt a golden opportunity to showcase itself as a leading global destination for both sports and tourism, while celebrating a major milestone in darts history.
