Honda Marks 30 Years of CR-V with Innovative ‘Dream Pod’ Camping Concept

— SME News UK
In a bold celebration of adventure and innovation, Honda has unveiled the ‘Dream Pod’ – a unique, all-season camping concept developed to mark the 30th anniversary of the iconic CR-V, one of the world’s best-selling SUVs.
Inspired by Japan’s renowned capsule hotels, the bespoke CR-V ‘Dream Pod’ reimagines off-grid camping with space for two people, cooking facilities, a wash basin, and a host of premium comforts—all integrated into Honda’s first plug-in hybrid SUV for Europe, the CR-V e:PHEV.
A Concept Built for the Great Outdoors
At the heart of the transformation is the EGOE Nestboard 650, an in-car camping solution fitted into the CR-V’s 617-litre boot space. With the rear seats folded, the unit reveals a comfortable double mattress, a slide-out kitchen with stove and collapsible sink, and ample storage for utensils.
Additional features include:
LED reading lights and USB charging points
Pull-out side tables and tailored black-out window covers
Retractable privacy blinds for restful nights under the stars
To enhance outdoor adventures, the Dream Pod includes Honda Genuine Accessories, such as:
A Thule bike carrier and detachable tow bar (with 1,500kg towing capacity)
Durable rubber floor mats and illuminated door sills for convenience and style
Technology Meets Tranquility
Built on the CR-V e:PHEV platform, the Dream Pod offers 79km (49 miles) of all-electric range, enabling silent, zero-emission exploration in EV mode. With 159mm ground clearance and advanced traction control, it’s equipped to handle diverse terrain while maintaining Honda’s signature comfort and safety—thanks to Honda SENSING 360, the latest in omnidirectional driver-assist technology.
Stargazing with a Purpose
To showcase the Dream Pod’s capabilities, Honda partnered with renowned astrophotographer Benjamin Barakat, who journeyed into the Italian Alps to capture the beauty of the night sky. Using long exposure techniques, Barakat produced stunning images of Orion’s Nebula and the Pleiades star cluster, highlighting how the Dream Pod makes remote stargazing possible in luxurious comfort.
